Περιγραφή:	Roads were crucial for the expansion of the Roman Empire since they facilitated military, political, administrative, and economic integration across the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, the Near East and North Africa. Despite this, Roman investment in road networks in Greece was relatively limited, especially when compared to other infrastructure projects such as aqueducts. However, historical documentation and epigraphic evidence from Crete, particularly in the city of Hierapytna, suggests that road maintenance remained a priority for the Romans. This paper investigates the routes leading to Hierapytna which are depicted on the Tabula Peutingeriana, focusing on the final stations of the northern route (Biannos to Hierapytna) and the southern route (Inatos to Hierapytna), as well as on the search for their convergence point southwest of the city. Using GIS and R programming tools, this study calculates distances for these routes, contextualizing the finding with archaeological evidence, as well as ancient and modern testimonies. This research offers new insights into the topography of Roman Crete and underscores the value of integrating innovative and traditional approaches in archaeological analysis.
