Περίληψη:	An inventory describing the illustrations in the texts of the travel literature from the 15th to the 19th century constitutes a distinct object of research in the Institute of Neohellenic Research. The illustrations accompanying these texts are of special interest, not only for their artistic merit, but also as a further source of information.The analysis of this material made it necessary to set up an index-card which records the identity of the illustration according to information provided by the illustration itself and by the relevant literature. Each index-card is divided into two sections which comprise details and remarks about the form and the content of the illustration. The index-card contains the following: the recorder's initials, the number of the index-card, the date of the first record, the mode of documentation (e.g. sk. for skanning), the dimensions, the technique and the title of the illustration. The code is a specific number which relates the illustrations to the research program of travellers' writings referring to the south-eastern Europe and eastern Mediterranean from the 15th to the 19th centuries. Finally the index-card comprises also the information concerning the creation and the dating of the illustration as well as remarks on its subject, technique and conservation.
